We Are TMJ Practice Focusing On TMJ Disorders, TMJ pain, Craniofacial Pain, Sleep Apnea, and Sleep Disorder Breathing In Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii

Welcome to our practice! More than 10 million Americans suffer from Temporomandibular Disorder (TMD or commonly referred to as TMJ) and may not know it or how to receive treatment for it. We focus on treating facial and unexplained jaw pain that may be affecting your everyday life resulting from TMJ. We are the only practice that takes 3D Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) of your jaw joint (TMJ) in our diagnosis to have the most accurate information. Without it is similar to telling you that you have a cavity without taking x-rays. Many offices do not do this and can only offer a dental appliance or splint to guess your treatment result. This is only treating the symptom, but not the cause forcing you to wear that dental appliance for life. We have received advanced training in treating pain that most offices do not diagnose on a regular basis. If you feel that this describes you, give us a call!

We use state-of-the-art technology including the CT evaluation of your TMJ to determine if it's causing any pathology which can create jaw dysfunction, noises, dentofacial deformities, and especially pain or headaches. We also use the T-Scan® system by Tekscan which is a computerized bite analysis and is incredibly more precise than traditional methods. As a patient, you would only need to bite down on the sensor for it to calculate your bite force and location. which is absolutely necessary to treat TMJ symptoms or begin large treatment procedures.

Our mission is to restore your lifestyle prior to having your condition and improve your overall health. TMJ problems can be linked to other health issues such as migraines, sleep apnea, ringing in our ears, and many others.

TMJ and Sleep Apnea Orthodontic Solutions

Treating sleep apnea with just an oral removable appliance is only a superficial solution. In order to fully resolve sleep apnea, we must treat the cause and not the symptoms. The main reason why a patient may have sleep apnea is that the teeth, the upper jaw, and the bottom jaw are retruded (pushed back into the face). With our background in TMJ, Sleep Apnea, and Cosmetic Dentistry, we apply orthodontics to align the jaw at the patient’s most naturally comfortable position. This promotes a healthy jaw joint, airway, and beautiful face. Once those are established, we can straighten the misaligned teeth, all of which will complement each other for a captivating smile. We see so many cases where traditional orthodontic treatment did not evaluate how to establish a healthy TMJ, a functional airway, a beautiful facial profile, and a great smile. Traditional orthodontics that focuses solely on making teeth straight can result in that child maturing into an adult that ends up developing sleep apnea, a retruded face, headaches, TMJ pain, and clicking and locking joints.
